Title: Senior Associate

Exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and work for a modern tech-based accounting and business consulting firm in the DC metro area. We are hiring experienced accountants who can hit the ground running as “client leads” and support our expanding business.

Specifically, we are seeking a Senior Associate who will act as the accounting advisor and lead point of contact for a number of clients across our company’s overall portfolio of clients. Secondary responsibility of managing/mentoring junior staff accountants while helping to contribute to the company’s overall positive culture.

Targeting entrepreneurially minded accountants who have a desire to work on multiple engagements across different business sectors, including government relations, digital media and public relations, tech-based startups, and other professional services firms. Responsibilities:

  • Serve as client-lead across a portfolio of dynamic clients
  • Manage & supervise staff accountants in the execution of their duties
  • Prepare client month-end closing of books 
  • Financial Statements: Prepare, review, analyze, and explain
  • Manage accounts receivable and revenue recognition
  • Manage accounts payable 
  • Maintain accounting schedules and accurate General Ledger 
  • Create and maintain internal processes and controls
  • Help create and track existing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Analyze trends and variances for possible discrepancies
  • Assist client in creating a budget  

 

Technical and Soft Skills:

  • Software: Must have experience working with QuickBooks Online (ProAdvisor), Bill.com, Expensify, Google Suite, and advanced MS Excel skills; helpful to have experience in Slack, Sharefile and Aero
  • 3-5 years accounting experience with prior public accounting experience preferred
  • CPA a plus; 
  • Solid grasp of GAAP accounting including month-end close process
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills with the ability to distill the most important insights and communicate to clients in a clear, concise and personal manner 
  • The ability to work independently and also collaborate when required across a portfolio of clients in a dynamic team environment that works remotely

Specifically, we are seeking an Associate who possesses sound technical accounting skills, is detail-oriented, and embraces technology to help maintain client accounting records. This individual will work closely with the client engagement lead to ensure all facets of the client relationship are executed to the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Record banking and credit card transactions in Quickbooks Online (QBO)
  • Record vendor bills in QBO and Bill.com
  • Record deposits in QBO and Bill.com
  • Record payroll journal entries
  • Assist with accounts payable management and manage the 1099/W-9 process
  • Prepare client invoices and help manage accounts receivable tracking 
  • Prepare accounting schedules and general ledger maintenance
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements
  • Analyze trends and self-review work for possible discrepancies
  • Assist with month-end close procedures
  • Help prepare monthly financial statements

 

Technical and Soft Skills:

  • Software: Experience working with QuickBooks Online (ProAdvisor), Bill.com, Expensify, Google Suite, and Advanced MS Excel
  • Four year B.S. degree in Accounting
  • 1-2 years accounting experience, preferably with a public accounting firm
  • The self-discipline to work independently but also collaborate when required across a portfolio of clients in a dynamic team environment that works remotely
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills with the ability to distill important insights and communicate to clients in a clear, concise and professional manner

Your Role

 

We are seeking experienced Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), who are interested in leveraging their skills and versatility across a portfolio of dynamic companies on a part-time basis. A CFO Advisor will play a key role in Quadrant Advisory’s mission by working closely with the senior executives and leadership of our client companies. This will occur by helping to drive overall financial and operational strategy, developing and tracking relevant KPIs, liaising with client external stakeholders, overseeing financial control systems and processes, and delivering timely financial insights. The ideal candidate will have previous CFO experience with startups, growth-stage companies, or professional services firms, be comfortable in the C-suite and boardroom, and enjoy working with Quadrant Advisory’s talented team of dedicated professionals.

 

As a fractional CFO, your main responsibilities will include some or all of the following:

  • Drive overall client strategy by providing input on the company’s financial and tax strategies, business plan, budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow analysis
  • Conduct advanced financial planning and analysis, budgeting, modeling, and forecasting
  • Oversee all financial and accounting operations and personnel, ensuring sound financial controls, processes, and systems are in order
  • Advise on capital raises, cap table management, and overall treasury management
  • Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that support and measure the company’s strategic direction and progress
  • Serve as a strategic advisor and sounding-board for company executive/management individuals and maintain in-depth relations with all pertinent leadership team members
  • Serve as a liaison for all external stakeholders including bankers, lawyers, investors, and other financial partners
  • Fulfill CFO responsibilities for board of director meetings
  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Prior experience as a CFO with 10+ years of total professional experience
  • You have at least 5+ years of experience of progressively responsible experience for a growth-stage company, or as an advisor to an executive at an early-stage company
  • You have excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills and are comfortable in a C-suite environment engaging with executive leadership 
  • You have experience putting together financial statements, budgets, cash-flow projections and various financial reports to assist management in making decisions 
  • You have cloud-based accounting platform technical experience including Quickbooks Online, Bill.com, Expensify, etc.
  • You understand the big picture and can clearly convey the key takeaways and highlights for a busy audience, while also not being afraid to dive into the details when necessary
  • You like working in a fast paced environment and can easily pivot across verticals, clients, and overall industries; you are resourceful, solutions-oriented, and optimistic
  • You exercise initiative and fast decision-making while reacting with professionalism under a variety of circumstances; firm, fair, accountable, and reliable
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, operations, statistics, mathematics, or a related analytical discipline preferred
